Joranda Mela - Dhenkanal - Odisha - A Place of gathering for Mahima Dharma

Joranda is located on the dhenkanal district of odisha. Joranda mela is celebrated by the people who belongs to the mahima dharma. Joranda mela always falls on the magha purnima day(january - february) every year.

        The mela continue for three days in which the mahima priest gather from various country to worship in the holy place. Joranda mela stars from 1874 and since the culture is going on.Every year the mahima priest come to the holy place to worship the god for their well wishes and calmness in their life.



During the joranda mela the mahima priests offered a lot amount of desi ghee in the Yagyan kund. From previous period the people believes that the yagan kund will bring the peace on the earth.On that time every devotees pray to the god by saying 'Alekh Mahima' or 'Alekh Brahma'. The mahima priests believed that god has no shape , color and odour.That's way the temple of joranda is called Sunya Temple. The mahima priests always wear the koufins.

The great poet of odisha 'Bhima Bhoi' has a great role in popularising the 'Alekh Mahima'.It is a tourist place of odisha .For three days their a big fair held in which the people buy their necessary products in a cheap price.The people visit the place by wearing the beautiful saree ,dhoti .
