Bomkai is the traditional saree of odisha which have threadwork, ornament borders and beautiful pallu. It is produced by the 'Bhulia ' community of sambalpur district. The saree woven in heavy with low count cotton and dyed in bright colors like black, red and white.

On bomkai saree the weavers made the unique design like rukha, damru, kanthi flower, karela, peacock, fish and lotus flower( fish and lotus design symbolize the prosperity and good health). The bomkai saree available in both fabrics (cotton and silk). The borders design of the saree is called 'Mikta Panji ' which is a small design of diamond shape.

Now a days many odia resturant are opening in several areas to give the actual tradition food to the peoples. 
The traditional dress of odia peoples are dhoti and saree. On any festival the women's wear the silk saree, new cotton saree or bomkai saree ,girls love to wear salwar kameez to go college or tution. Village people love to wear the lungi and gamucha. In odisha Pahala rasogollas is too much famous and the best bada ,chenapoda of Dhenkanal, and the delicious aloodum of Cuttack. Famous Dhanu Yatra of Western Odisha

Dhanu yatra celebrated in western odisha with the symbolize the mythological story of lord krishna and his uncle kansa(mama).It is celebrated in the famous place of western odisha named bargarh. but now a days it celebrated in every place of western odisha. From 6th january to 16th january the place looked like mathura. Bargarh is famous for its sambalpuri ikkat handloom saree and beautiful bomkai saree.

The festival show the drama of lord krishna and lord balaram to visit mathura for the ceremony of "bow" organised by his uncle kansha.The play starts from the emperor ugrasen and  the prince kansa and the marraige of devaki with basudev and  the death of kansa(mama) and finally ugrasen became the king.
