Jute is a fiber
which is very long, soft and shiny. It is a vegetable fiber that can be spun
into coarse, strong threads. We can say Jute is one of the most affordable
natural fibbers. And this fiber is second after the cotton in amount of production
and variety of uses of the vegetable fibers. Generally Jute fibers are composed
primarily from the plant materials cellulose and lignin then it falls into the
category of fibber known as bast fiber (fibber collected from bast or skin of
the plant).
The
industrial term for jute fiber is raw jute. The fibers are off-white to brown,
and 1–4 metres long. The Jute is also called "the golden fiber" for
its colour and high cash value. It is very much popular in all over the world.

Actually
Jute is a rain-fed crop, this plant don’t much more need for fertilizer or
pesticides, but in contrast plants it needs heavy fertilizer or pesticides.
Mostly the Production of this jute is concentrated mostly in India's states like
Assam, Bihar and West Bengal. In Bangladesh also the production of this jute is
very good. The jute fiber comes after the process of the stem and ribbon of the
jute plant. The fibers are first extracted by process known as retting. In the
retting process workers, bundling jute stems together and immersing them in
slow running water. Then jute is produced for use.
There are basically
two types of retting stem are available. After the retting process, stripping process
is begins, here in this stripping process women and children usually work. By
this stripping process, non-fibrous matter is scraped from the pure jute, and
then the workers dig in and grab the fibers from within the jute stem.
India is the
country which world's largest producer of jute. But it imported approximately
162,000 tonnes of raw fiber and 175,000 tonnes of jute products in 2011 from
Bangladesh. Not only India, also Pakistan and China import significant
quantities of jute fiber and products from Bangladesh. And transport nice jute
products to the countries likew United Kingdom, Japan, United States, France,
Spain, Germany and Brazil.
