Bomkai is traditional sari of Odisha.

Bomkai is the traditional saree of odisha which have threadwork, ornament borders and beautiful pallu. It is produced by the 'Bhulia ' community of sambalpur district. The saree woven in heavy with low count cotton and dyed in bright colors like black, red and white.
The weavers made the bomkai saree in loom.


On bomkai saree the weavers made the unique design like rukha, damru, kanthi flower, karela, peacock, fish and lotus flower( fish and lotus design symbolize the prosperity and good health). The bomkai saree available in both fabrics (cotton and silk). The borders design of the saree is called 'Mikta Panji ' which is a small design of diamond shape.

In modern days the weavers made the saree with different colors. Mostly bomkai cotton saree wear casually in home and home function but the silk saree wear in the marraige day or functional Party.
