History of Online Shopping

Online Shopping is a technique that is very much liked by people in all over the world, now days millions of people using this technology and gaining benefits from this online shopping technology. At first English entrepreneur Michael Aldrich invented this online shopping in the year 1979. Actually he first tries this technique through a domestic TV channel. He connected a modified domestic TV to a real-time transaction processing computer via a domestic telephone line. He just creates a media which gives information about their products to those people who are watching the TV at that time. Consumers like this technology very much because of the advantages provided by it. As this technology was becomes very successful in very less time, so more people or more business men are paying more interest on this technique.

After the invention of internet, online shopping becomes easier and more affordable. So in the date March 1980 Michael Aldrich launched Redifon's Office Revolution, which allowed consumers, customers, agents, distributors, suppliers and service companies to be connected on-line to the corporate systems and allow business transactions to be completed electronically in real-time. This helps all groups of peoples and provides them more benefit.

After that during the period of 1980s Michael Aldrich designed, manufactured, sold, installed, maintained and supported many online shopping systems which make it easier for consumers as well as suppliers, using videotex technology. These systems which also provided voice response and handprint processing pre-date the Internet and the World Wide Web, the IBM PC, and Microsoft MS-DOS, and were installed mainly in the UK by large corporations, that increase the popularity of online shopping very much. 

Actually Tim Berners-Lee created the first World Wide Web server and browser in the year 1990, and it opened for commercial use is in 1991. After that, subsequent technological innovations emerged in the year 1994. Online banking, the opening of an online pizza shop by Pizza Hut, Netscape's SSL v2 encryption standard for secure data transfer, and Inters hops are some first online shopping system. The first secure retail transaction over the Web was either by NetMarket or Internet Shopping Network in 1994.  After that, Amazon.com launched its online shopping site in the year 1995 and eBay was also introduced in the year 1995.  In 2003 and 2008, Alibaba's sites Taobao and Tmall were launched respectively.


So these are some history about online shopping technology.
