Raja festival of Odisha to welcome the Moonsoon Season.

The most important festival of odisha is Raja festival. The festival is dedicated to the farmers to celebrate the onsets of monsoons. It is also known as Raja Sankrati and it celebrate for four days.
Raja falls on the first day of the month of Asada from which the rainy season starts. On this time the farmers wait to cultivate the paddy fields.

 Raja festival celebrate all over odisha. The first day of raja called pahili raja, second is proper raja, third is basi( past) raja and the fourth raja is called "Basumata Puja". At that time the mother earth to be a women on mensuration , which symbol of fertility that's way she is given rest for the three days. For these three days every agriculture activities suspended .

Mainly the function dedicated to the unmarried girl's. Specially girl's are suspended from all the house works, cooking and etc .During these three days the girl's wear the new dress, saree, and mother's wear the beautiful traditional silk saree and the gent's wear the new dhoti and towel. The unmarried girl's wear the beautiful cotton saree or silk saree and roaming the whole village with lots of fun and eat the special cake called " Poda Pitha". The newly married women gifts the silk saree or cotton saree to their groom's mother. Several people buy the saree through online shopping and send the gift's to their lovable person.

The main part of this festival is swing. In odisha every corner have the swing made of rope or bamboo. Visit odisha and enjoy the festival.
